Australian manufacturing

Storco have been manufacturing self storage partitioning systems in Australia since our inception in 1980. Since then, we’ve outgrown our factory twice as we’ve grown in both headcount and in capability.

Made in Orange NSW

Our current premises in Orange NSW is a purpose-built facility with a 7,000 square metre footprint and ten production lines.

Manufacturing philosophy

Storco uses a Kaizen continuous improvement philosophy. This approach empowers our team – from the executive level through to factory operators – to drive incremental improvement in our manufacturing processes.

Rather than look for radical changes, we encourage the team to look at their everyday tasks and recommend changes that make these tasks easier, faster, and safer.

These changes, while individually small, add up to make our processes better and our people safer. Importantly, the recommendations come from the people who know these tasks inside out and will feel their impact the most.

This Kaizen philosophy is combined with a lean approach to manufacturing that encourages our team to minimise waste wherever we find it – whether it’s wasted material, wasted time, or wasted effort.

Production lines

  • Roll forming

Roll forming has formed the backbone of Storco’s manufacturing capability ever since the first corridor wall panels were produced in 1995. The roll forming capability has since expanded to four discrete lines producing roller doors, partition walls, and wall channel.

  • Roller doors

Storco’s roller door manufacturing line has seen extensive development since we first started manufacturing in-house in 2015. Our roller door line now routinely produces hundreds of doors a week for the biggest storage facilities being constructed in Australia.

  • Laser-combi

Storco has incorporated the latest in manufacturing technology to produce storage partitioning products faster, more efficiently, and to higher tolerances than ever before. The laser-combi offers 144 different laser cutting and punching tools for precision shaping of steel coil products.

  • Bender

Storco’s manufacturing capability is made truly unique with the combination of laser-combi and bending tools. Our bender is the largest by bed size in the southern hemisphere, meaning we can shape steel sheet into a practically limitless range of shapes consistently and speedily.

  • Fabrication

Our fabrication team specialise in manufacturing the structural members required for storage building construction, including structural steel, staircases, downpipe protectors, and Storco’s unique concealed mezzanine post brackets.

  • Painting

The painting team finish many of the structural steel components needed to ensure a facility not only works perfectly but also has the modern, contemporary look that customers trust.

  • Stainless steel

Storco’s Stainless Sentry range of roller and swing door latches are manufactured in house and finished to ensure smooth, reliable operation every time.

  • Aluminium

The aluminium corridor and corner protection features that help shield your facility from impacts during move-ins are shaped and cut to size in our aluminium bay.

Very, very happy with all the machinery and the quality and everything like that. We just did a small job of partitioning on the first floor, we added in ten units but it added about two hundred thousand dollars of value to the asset. The value it created was fantastic.
